Mobile cloud learning for higher education: A case study of Moodle in the cloud

Abstract

Mobile cloud learning, a combination of mobile learning and cloud computing, is a relatively new concept that holds considerable promise for future development and delivery in the education sectors. Cloud computing helps mobile learning overcome obstacles related to mobile computing. The main focus of this paper is to explore how cloud computing changes traditional mobile learning. A case study of the usage of Moodle in the cloud via mobile learning in Khalifa University was conducted.

MinjuanWang is an oriental scholar at Shanghai International Studies University, China and a professor of Educational Technology at San Diego State University. Her research specialties focus on the sociocultural facets of online learning, mobile learning and technological interventions in language education. She has published peer-reviewed articles in Educational Technology

Research and Development, Computers and Education, Educational Media International, TechTrends, and the British Journal of EducationalTechnology. She has also published book chapters on engaged learning in online problem solving, Cybergogy for interactive learning online, informal learning via the Internet, and effective learning in multicultural and multilingual classrooms. Mr. Yong Chen is an instructional technology specialist at Old Dominion University, Virginia. He got his MA in Educational Technology at San Diego State University. His research interests include online learning, mobile learning, security and privacy in online learning, learning management system safety, and Web 2.0 applications in teaching and learning.
